    When Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife visited Sarajevo in Bosnia, a bomb was thrown close to them as a failed attempt of assassination. Later however, they ended up getting shot and killed by a lone assassin. This led an outbreak to war that the U.S. did not want to be involved in. World War I.

    Great Britain had declared war since Germany did not want to remove neutral Belgium troops. The U.S. didn't want to be involved with this since they had extensive trade with Western Europe.

    A German U-Boat submarine, The Lusitania, torpedoed and sank. This cruise travelled from New York to England. When it sank, it drowned 1,200 people, along with 128 Americans.

    The U.S. voters re-elected Woodrow Wilson for a second term as President of the United States since he had a campaign to help Americans stay out of World War I.

    Alfred Zimmermann had received a telegram from the British about the German embassies from Washington D.C., The message shows plan of how an alliance of Germany and Mexico would work and how it would be against the United States. This message had already been passed along to the Americans and the British, causing sadness into having America join World War I.
