    Militarism and the Arms Race
In the early 19th century, militarism and the arms race sent European countries flying into a competition of who can create the strongest military. More specifically, the countries of Russia, Germany, Britain, Austria-Hungary, Italy, and France. These countries tried to create larger and more powerful militaries by making tougher weapons, increasing the number of citizens in the military, and expanding their navies.
