    The Japanese invasion of China occured on July 7, 1937 in Northern China. Conflict broke out when china was resisiting the expansion of japanese influence. Japan took over most of eastern china, and all the major ports. Japan wanted china's land and resources such as oil.

  • Pearl Harbor

    On the morning of december 7th the japanese dropped bombs from fighter planes on pearl harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii destroying nearly 20 american naval vessels, 300 airplanes and more than 2,000 american soldiers and sailors died in the attack. The very next day F.D.R. had congress declare war on Japan entering the United States into World War 2.
  • Bataan Death March

    was the forcible transfer from Saisaih Pt. and Mariveles to Camp O'Donnell by the Imperial Japanese Army of 60,000–80,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war. approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps. The marchers made the trek in intense heat and were subjected to harsh treatment by Japanese guards. Thousands perished in what became known as the Bataan Death March.

The invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning. The Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe.

Three U.S. marine divisions landed on the island in February 1945, was sparked by the desire for a place where B-29 bombers damaged over Japan could land without returning all the way to the Marianas, and for aIwo Jima was defended by roughly 23,000 Japanese army and navy troops. American losses included 5,900 dead and 17,400 wounded.

By the end of the 82-day campaign, Japan had lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the Allies had suffered more than 65,000 casualties including 14,000 dead.

American bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, then 3 days later america droppedf an atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki killing around 40,000 people causing Japan to surrender.
