They launched a full-scale invasion on china, using machuria as thier lauching base for thier troops. japan was going through an economic stugggle, which played a huge factor on why the invaded china. Manchuria was the industrial heartland of china, they needed the land to produce steel and food for their expanding population. -

The Kasserine Pass was the site of the United States' First major battle defeat of war. It happended because on February 20, Rommel broke through the U.S. Forces inflicting devastating casualties. it was a major battle in which americans landed and captured the island of Iwo jima from the japanese imperial army. The japanese only had 23,000 troops to defend with, they dug out an elaberate system of tunnels, dugouts, and caves, even though there were harsh conditions for the americans they still wiped out the japanese troops in a course of a month.
