Victory over Japan Day, the day that Japan surrendered in WWll, in effect ending the war. The term has been applied to both the day of Japans initial surrrender to the afternoon of August 14, 1945. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan had hoped to cripple the U.S. fleat. Several U.S. carriers were out to sea when the Japan attacked on Dec. 7th. Japan also attacked Guam, Wake Island, and Midway Island on the same day. This made the U.S. enter the war.
