    The Stamp Act was a time when British Parliment passed a law saying that any piece of paper printed, there would be a tax that the paper holder would have to pay and they would also receive a stamp on it saying the holder paid it.
    This was an important event because the Parliment was making people pay "taxation without representation" and the people rebelled.

    The American Revolution was a conflict of growing tensions between Great Britain's 13 North American colonies and the colonial goverment, who represented the British crown. The first fight happened at Lexigton and Concord. French troops joined the colonist forces and the British surrendered in Yorktown, Virginia.
    This is important because if the colonies would not have won American may not be an independent nation.

    America gets Independence from Britain when the thirteen colonies fought against Britain for the independence of America. The colonies resented the trade regulations that Britain came up with for their own economic advantages.
    This is important because if the colonies would not have won America would not be an independent nation.

    The French Revolution started because they liked the outcome of the American Revolution. The French Revolution started mostly because the ideas of the Enlightenment. The French citizens resigned their political landscape, tearing away century old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. They did not achieve all they strived for but achieved the critical goals.
    This was important because it changed the government in France and made it somewhat like the American government.

    The Reign of Terror was a time when over 30,000 people were killed all across France after King Louis XVI had died. They would be killed with the guillotine if anyone thought something suspicious of them or if they said something critical about the government. Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI wife was the first the be killed.
    This is important because so many people in France lost their lives for just speaking their opinion, no matter who the person was.

    The Fugitive Slave Act said that any slave that had escaped from their owner and were living freely in the north must be returned to their owner immediately. If people in the north did not return the slaves they would be subject to fines and imprisonment. Anti-slavery was growing rapidly, This led up to the American Civil War.
    This was important because people in the north wanted slavery to end, they thought that it was wrong and took consiquence for innocent others.

    The American Civil War was a time when the north states wanted to end slavery and the south states did not want slavery to end, and they thought there was no place in the Union for them. A war started between the two areas called the American Civil War.
    This was important because it was a war between our own country, and between friends and family.
  • Abraham Lincoln becomes President

    Abraham Lincoln becomes President
    Abraham Lincoln becomes President during the Civil War. He built the Republican Party into a strong national organization. He abolished slavery and was killed five days after the Civil War was ended.
    This is important because he was one to end slavery, if he would not have slavery may still be going on today.

    The First Sino-Japanese War
    The First Sino-Japanese War was for the fight over who would take control of Korea. This war was fought between China and Japan. Many foreign observers expected China to win because they had a stronger navy and their army was massively large. Japan won over China because Japan was more modernized and technilogically advanced than China Japan won Korea.
    This is important because it marked Japan as a major world power and showed the weaknesses of China.

    World War I
    World War I also called the Great War. Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in Bosnia by a Serbian nationalist. Which put the Central Powers against the Allied Powers. This was the starrt of World War I. At this time more modern weapons were being introduced which meant more casualties were happening.
    This is an important world event because it caused a ton of stress on Middle East Europe and caused the Russian Revolution.
