    Although in New Jersey, both women and African American had gained the right to vote, they lost this right in 1807
  • Unsafe working conditions

    Work was long, harsh, and dangerous. Many women lost their fingers in factory machines.
  • Women allowed to work in factories

    Because of the Industrial Revolution, women were allowed to work in factories. Even though the pay wasn't equal, women were happy to get out of the house.
  • African American women

    Slavery led frightened African American mothers to committ acts of bestiality, such as killing their children so that they won't be forced into a life of bondage.
  • Seneca Falls Convention

    This attracted more than 200 women, and was where the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions, was written.

    In 1848, 300 women and men signed a "Declaration of Sentiments". It was a plea to end gender discrimination in all "spheres of society".
  • First National Women's Rights Convention

    The first National Women's Rights Conventions was held in Massachustes. Over a thousand people attended, and this convention would annually for over a decade.
  • Missouri vs. Celia

    A slave was declared as property and couldn't defend herself from rape by her master. Biracial children born out of rape were either sold to Indians or killed to conceal the affairs.
  • Women's Suffrage

    In 1869, the Wyoming territory passed the first women's suffrage law.

    In 1879, a special Congressional legislation allowed a woman to try a case before the Supreme Court.
  • Jack the Ripper

    Jack the Ripper's worst attacks happened at this time. All of his victims were prostitutes, who suffered violent deaths at his hand.

    Over a million women were domestic servants. Another majority were teachers or nurses. Only a few hundreds were doctors, and a shockingly low number of 2 were architects.
