The Second is another Nun Claricia, She also used her self image inside a manuscript with the letter "Q". Both were Of German Ancestor.

    Women in Art during the Renaissance
    Two women that stood out during the Renaissance era of time were Plautilla Nelli and Sofonisba Anguissola. These two women were different in that one was a Nun and the other a Noblewoman. Both would become successful in what they created, Nelli opening her own studio with 8 Nuns who followed her and Anguissola who worked for King Philip II in his court.

    Anna Vallayer-Coster and Mary Delaney stood out during the 17th century because of the type of art they produced. they both were different in their own work, one created still-life paintings and one created collages with cut out paper. Their attention to detail and real life subjects stood out in a time of paintings that were mostly of landscapes and portraits. This lead to many other female artists to follow their work and create a whole new genre for women.

    I chose these two artists during the 18th Century time period because both paintings stood out to me. The amount of different colors, the settings, and the subject matter. Both women were successful in a time were men dominated the field of art. You can see that each were well regarded and their art-pieces still stand out in the art society.

    These two women spearheaded the abstract and "avant-garde" movements. They created art at the time no one had seen or tried before. They influenced the textile world, art world, and furnishing worlds that used their designs to create a new type of art. Showing that women can create fashion within their art using geometric and abstract art shows the feminisms side to the art world during the 19th century, when most fashion was created by men.

    Kate Freeman Clark and Grandma Moses both stood out to me. Freeman Clark created many different landscape pictures, and Grandma Moses was a folk artist that depicted Halloween many different times. The amount of detail, color, and placement in both paintings stands out.

    Hilma af Klint was born in Sweden, while Natalia was born in Russia. Both stood out because they were ahead of their time when it came to art. Both had an abstract sense to their art, however they were different in what they created. You can see the amount of colors and the detail each used. Being first to accomplish this type of art shows that women can be first in creating art where men will follow and use what they have learned from both of these women.

Both have different styles of art, however both show that history, culture, and art can all go together to show a story of what life may be in their own perspective countries, Africa and Brazil. You can learn from the artist point of view on how life may have been while growing up or living there currently.
