After the French and Indian War, the Parliament was in debt, so they passed the tax on printed papers and legal documents. This was the first tax that applied equally to all colonists.

Samuel Adams and John Hancock were going to be arrested in Lexington but were warned to flea the area. Lexington- shot heard around the world. British won Lexington and were marched to Concord where the Patriots retreated. The British then searched the city and burned houses before they were shot upon on the North Bridge when the Colonists won. Even after the battle, the British were chased and shot at as they retreated.

Lyman Hall went but couldn't represent Georgia until he was approved on July 8th. They also sent Button Gwinnett and George Walton. The Continental Army was also started and lead by George Washington.

GA was the only colony retaken, and remained British for the rest of the time. The patriots were still in the countryside and the loyalists were in Augusta and Savannah.

Elijah Clark led and was the first patriotic victory in Georgia. It was a surprise attack on the loyalists.

French joined Georgia's patriots and tried to bomb Savannah but FAILED. 800+ patriots died and about 18 loyalists died.
