    Fall of the Roman Empire
    The Visigoths invaded Rome and burned and invaded the city of Rome. The fight took 3 days. The last emperor of Rome was Romulus in 476. The Visigoth barbarians swept the Roman Empire leaving Rome to be took over Odoacer. This left the Romans spread out going to different locations.

    Start of the Middle Ages

    Start of the Middle Ages
    The Middle Ages was a very hard time because very few people could read or write. The Middle Ages was under the Feudal System. During this time their was slavery which was served by the peasants or serfs. Music ad art was important to this time and also there was very little medicine. The result of very little medicine resulted in the Plague which wiped out half of the European population. The middle ages ended around 1450.

    The Crusades began in 1095 and ended in 1291. This group know as the Crusades had a series of wars between different religions. The main religions included Christians and Muslims. There were eight major crusade mission that happened and there mission was to protect the holy site of both Muslims and Christians. One of the major events that occurred during this time period was the fall of Jerusalem.

    The Renaissance started in 1450 and began in Florence, Italy. This period is the beginning of the art period. During the Renaissance there was a cultural movement called humanism. Humanism is the philosophy to keep people educated and learn arts and literature. There were many famous artist and paintings that came out in this time. The Renaissance time period ended in 1600.

    Protestant Reformation
    The Protestant Reformation was during the 16th century and was a movement aimed toward reforming the Roman Catholic Church. Many people believed that this was the beginning of the modern era. During this reformation the middle class thrived and city's began to grow larger. In 1517, Martin Luther posted 95 theses on a church door which challenged the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. This is one of the main events of the Protestant Reformation.

    The Age of Enlightenment lasted 100 years. This was a period of time were traditional authority is questioned and the idea of rational change is thought of.     The Industrial Revolution lasted for 80 years and was the age of industries. Many cities thrived up north in the Manufacturing Belt due to many people moving there because of job opportunities. The workers in these factories were paid very low in bad environment. Many new things were invented like the cotton gen and the transcontinental railroad. Before the revolution many people worked on large farms.

    The French Revolution started in 1789 and ended in the late 1790's. During this time King Louis XVI was king and created a poor economy and had a monarchy. He faced death with the guillotine. During the French Revolution Napoleon Bonaparte was a military leader and conquered most of Europe. He also lead several successful campaigns during the French Revolution and died in 1821.     WWI started in 1914 and lasted about 4 years. One event that fueled the start of the war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. When Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia that was when many others countries declared war like Germany declaring war on Russia and that was when Great Britain got involved. Others countries like the U.S. joined later. More than 20 million people died and more than 21 million people got wounded.

    World War II started in 1939 and ended in 1945. World War II was the deadliest war killing 35 to 60 million people. The main cause of World War II was 1939 Nazi invasion of Poland. In 1941, 300 Japan aircraft attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii which sparked the U.S. to join the war and be on the allies side. Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945. The results of this war later led the start of the cold war.

People were even killed when trying to cross the wall with towers that had gunman to shoot the people who to tried and escape.
