    France was supposed to cease fire in the Indochina War. However due to fear of Ho Chin Minh, many people failed to carry through on this.

    Peaceful Protests turned Violent
    Many people across the US were peacefully protesting for anti-war. Once America realized the immorality of the war and its uselessness, much of the population became in opposition of it. However, when many people started to protest, they easily got angry and many began to violently protest. This included burning buildings, and police often had to show up at the scene.
  • Tet Offensive

    Tet Offensive
    Vietcong troops attacked almost every major metropolitan center in South Vietnam. Angry, the US recaptured all of the lost territory back. The American population started to oppose the war.
  • My Lai Massacre

    My Lai Massacre
    American soldiers killed 300-500 people in My Lai, Vietnam. Women had been reaped and abused. The public was very disturbed by this. They felt outraged and believed it was morally wrong.
  • Vietnamization

    Vietnamization
    President Nixon originally had the idea of Vietnamization. The plan was that the US would gradually remove troops from Southeast Asia as the American military personnel turned more and more of the actual fighting over to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam.

    Kent State Massacre
    Students were protesting at their college, against Nixon who seemed to be expanding the war. The students were burning down buildings and turning to some violent acts of protesting. The National Guard arrived to calm the students down, but 4 students were shot and killed, and many more injured. People were angry that students were shot and injured.
  • Pentagon Papers Released

    Pentagon Papers Released
    The Pentagon Papers had been purposefully leaked to the public to show them what was going on in the government. However, much of the information on these opposed the things the media was telling them. This created a credibility gap and people were unsure what to believe.
