The Vietcong capture Binh Gia in January and early Febuary, On Febuary 7 the Vietcong attack a US helicoptor base. In Qui Nonh the Viet Cong place a bomb in a hotel killing 23 Americans.

President Johnson authorizes operation Rolling Thunder, whichs purpose is to bomb and stop North Vietnam from supporting the Viet Cong. March 2 is the first bomb raids run.

There are more than 385,000 men in Vietnam, 60,000 sailors stationed off-shore. More than 6,000 Americans killed and over 30,000 wounded. Estimated VC troops killed over 61,000. They have more than 285,000 troops.

On the Tet Holiday the Vietcong attack over 100 South Vietnamese cities. By the end of the offensive over 37,000 VC troops were dead. The attack was a more hurtful towards the VC.
