    My mom would always read princess stories in Spanish from this book she had bought me. Although I could not read at the time, I did memorize much of it.

    Dr. Seuss was during this time my favorite author. After reading his books I would always try to make my own rhymes.

    I remember seeing this book at a book fair in my school and trying really hard to convince my parents to buy it for me. Once I had it, I took it everywhere I went. I especially loved the pictures!

    At age 12 I was introduced to the the Dear America book series when my older sister brought home from school "The Girl Who Chased Away Sorrow" I was instantly hooked.

    More Dear America
    I loved the Dear America book series so much I continued to get more of these books and would read them for hours on end, never getting enough. Till this day they continue to be some of my favorite.

    I was in ninth grade when I read Of Mice and Men. After each chapter the teacher would question the reading and the purpose of what the author was trying to get across. This helped improve my comprehension skills.

    During this time I remember my teacher would always call on the class to read out loud. My classmates would always compliment my reading which would give me confidence as well as the desire to try even harder.

    In order to extend my vocabulary something I did a lot for some time was to simply read my dictionary. This helped me understand many words I was not familiar with. I still find myself doing this quite often as I cannot stay with the curiosity of wondering what a word means.

    For my first year of college, I had English professor Mr. Kille. Mr. Kille greatly influenced my attitude towards reading in the way that he helped me think outside of the box when interpreting literature. This allowed me to question the true meaning behind any reading.

    I have been reading The Holy Bible for a few years now. It is sometimes a bit difficult to understand which is why I believe it has definitely helped me out by improving my overall comprehension skills. It also helps serve as inspiration.
