  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris officially declared Britain as the winner of the French and Indian War. However, their victory caused significant debt.

    The Quartering Act forced colonists to provide shelter for British soldiers in need. This Act stirred up major outrage in the colonies.

    Parliament taxed legal documents, newspapers, pamphlets, and playing cards through this act. This was created to help pay off England's debt from the French and Indian War. The Act also stirred up major outrage in the colonies.

    This Act put an end to the strongly despised Stamp Act. However, it also permitted parliament to change laws and taxes in the colonies whenever it wanted.
  • Townshend Acts

    This Act taxed all items imported from Britain to the colonies. Parliament thought the colonies would not mind this Act since it was on imported goods. However, Parliament was wrong.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    People of Boston violently rioted against some British soldiers because of their outrage from the new taxes. This caused the soldiers to shoot and kill five people.

    The American colonists' outrage from the taxes Britain were passing caused rebels to dump 350 British boxes of British tea off a cargo ship and into the ocean.

    These acts were passed by Britain in response to the Boston Tea Party. The Intolerable Acts consisted of the Boston Port Bill, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Quebec Act, and the Administration of Justice Act.

    The first continental congress was a meeting that unified the colonies. They all came together as a whole and agreed that they should work together to defeat Britain.
