The Battles of Lexington and Concord
These battles were the first battles against the British in the Revolutionary War. In Lexington, the British hoped to capture Sam Adams and John Handcock. Riders, like Paul Revere, warned the militiamen that the British were coming to Lexington and Concord. About 122 colonists died during the battles. The battles were caused by Great Britain sending soldiers over to confiscate all of the colonist weapons. -
Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
This battle was the first official American victory in the Revolutionary War. The Green Mountain Boys, a colonist militia, had a strong role in capturing Fort Ticonderoga. This militia was led by Ethan Allen. This war gave the Continental army artillery to use later in the war. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
William Prescott commanded the colonists militia in this battle. The colonists moved forward and took over the two hills in the land for a tactical advantage. When the British had realized what the colonists had done, they attacked, resulting in 226 British deaths and 800 British wounded. The colonists did not suffer much damage. -
The Battle of Trenton
George Washington led this battle. He crossed the Delaware River with his troops to attack the Hessian and British garrison. The secret attack was launched in late December of 1776. The battle ended up being a victory for the colonists.The battle improved the morale of the colonial soldiers by making them realize the power they had. -

The battle took place in Saratoga County, New York. At the end of the battle, the British and Hessian armies surrendered their weapons to the colonists.This battle marked the turning point of the Revolutionary War, because France became an ally. Battle of Yorktown
This is marked as the last major battle in the Revolutionary War. This battle was significant because General Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington. Also, the French and colonists were able to trap the British in Yorktown.
