first Continenatal Congress
In September 1774 some 50 leaders from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia. Patrick Henary a leader from Virginia urged them to come together as one people. "I am not a Virginian,"he declared "but an American." -
Second Continental Congress
ON MAy 10,1775 the Second Continental congress met in Philadelphia. By then New England miltia had massed around Boston. John Adams of Massachusetts had another idea. He proposed that Congress create a "continenat army" made up of troops from all the colonies. and Goerge Washington was asinged the leader of the army.
