  • Berlin Airlift begins

    Berlin Airlift begins
    After WWII USA took control of west Berlin and the Soviet Union took East Berlin. A man named Joseph Stalin pushed us by putting a blockade around West Berlin so USA couldn't get any supplies to our allies. We didn't want to start another war so we used peaceful solution by flying over west Berlin and dropping supplies to our allies. The Berlin Airlift lasted almost a year and ended on May 12, 1949.
  • Korean War begins

    Korean War begins
    North Korea declared war on South Korea and the Truman Doctrine was put to the test.As soon as we got into the fight South Korea had been pushed back and almsot North Korea won, but we pushed them back.We had the chance to destroy Communism in Korea,but the China got involved. We could've even went to war with China, but thet were allies with the Soviet Union and we didn't want to start a nuclear war.The war ended in 1953 with a peace agreement. 39,000 Americans died and nothing changed in Korea
  • Emmitt Till Murder

    Emmitt Till Murder
    On August 1955 a 14 year old Emmitt Till was visitng his family in Louisiana and was in a local shop and was dared by a someone to flirted woman clerk. After he left the clerk told her husband what happened and him and his friend murderded Emmitt Till. The 2 men went to court and against all the evidence they were founded innocent. The killers of Emmitt Till were left free after the terrible crime they committed.
  • Little Rock's High integrated

    Little Rock's High integrated
    Little Rock's Central High School was the first school to be integrated in Little Rock. The first year of intergration only allowed 9 black stuthe school. Their first day of school the 9 was met by an angry mob and it took President Eisenhower to send in the troops in to got the students into the school and were escorted by the troops to there clases. 1 of the students was expelled because they duped a bowl of Chili on one of the students. After the graduation the Govt. shut down the school.
  • Kennedy elected President

    Kennedy elected President
    Kennedy ran against Richard Nixon in the 1960 election. Kennedy was Democrat and his Vice-President was Lydon Johnson. Kennedy won the popular vote and the most elctoral votes with 303 Kennedy won over 22 states and was ignuagerated the next year.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    USA U-2 finds Soviets putting missiles in Cuba. JFK had 3 options : Invade Cuba, airstrike, or use diplomacy and put a blockade around Cuba.USA made an agreement with Soviet to remove the missiles and in return we wouldn't invade Cuba, but there was a secret agreement. We would remove our missiles in Turkey and the Cuban Missile Crisis was resolved.
  • Kennedy assassinated

    Kennedy assassinated
    JFK visits Dalas, Texas to win voter support but he was assassinated by Lee Harvy Oswald. Lee shot Kennedy 2 times with one hitting the Govt. arm. The first bullet went through his neck the second one hit the back of his head. Oswald ran and killed a police officer until he was caught in a movie theaters.Some people think it was a conspiracy. Some people think they saw a rifle on a hill and because Oswald was killed by somebody that might be associated with the mob.
  • Tet Offensive

    Tet Offensive
    The Tet Offensive is a series of suprise attacks from the North Vietnam on the South's Cities and villages and could've changed the tide of the war. The North hit the South with 85,000 people, It took USA and the South weeks to take back all the cities that the North took over in the suprise attack.
  • Martin Luther King assassinated

    Martin Luther King assassinated
    MLK was assassinated by James Ray by a .30-06 rifle purchased in Burmingham and was killed at the Loraine Hotel. Some people thought it was a conspiracy. There was a conveint bundle of evidence against Ray and that he was aided by other people. The conspiracy was never proven and Ray was sentenced 99 years in prison.
  • Men land on the moon for the first time

    Men land on the moon for the first time
    We are in the middle of the Cold War and we are competing with the Soviets to land on the moon first. July 16, 1969, we have a shuttle going to the moon. The shuttle gets to the moon and we send 2 men down to the moon. USA is the first in the world to land on the moon and this is a major accomplishment in the Cold War.

    In 1972, President five of President Nixon's campaign members were caught in the Watergate Hotel, attempting to spy on the DNC.
  • U.S. exits Vietnam

    U.S. exits Vietnam
    In 1972 the U.S, started pulling troops out of Vietnam. The U.S. had made a treaty with the North Vietnamese. Three years later in 1975, North Vietnam broke the treaty and took over South Vietnam.

    After a long scandal having to do with the Watergate break-in, Nixon resigns his place as Commander and Chief. This was a relief to many Americans.

    Ronald Reagan was a member of the RNC. Americans were very hopefull about this new president, and he turned out to be a very successful president.
  • Challenger explosion

    73 seconds into this space shuttel's flight, a malfunction occurred, causing the shuttel to explode in mid-air. All 7 crew members were killed in this disaster.

    The Berlin Wall was a physical barrier between West and East Germany. Berliners rebelled and tore down the wall.
  • Oklahoma City bombing

    Oklahoma City bombing
    A terrorist attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Downtown Oklahoma City. This attack claimed the lives of 168 people.
  • Bush defeats Gore

    Bush defeats Gore
    George W. Bush, a republican and Al Gore, a democrat, ran in the 2000 Presidential Election. This was a very close race. The outcome came out to be a victory fo George W. Bush.
  • 9/11 Attacks

    9/11 Attacks
    On the morning of September 11th, two Boeing 747s, flown by Alquida terrorist, crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, New York. Over 3000 Americans were killed by this attack. This still is the largest terrorist attack on America.

    Barack Obama, the democratic nominee and John McCain, the republican nominee, both ran in the 2008 Presidential Election. Barack Obama won, as the first African American President in American history.
