A time when ministers had thought colonists were losing devotion or faith to God, so ministers preached at various cities trying to bring back the devotion and faith. -
French and Indian War
the french fighting the english and trying to accomodate indians as allies for the war. This war was about who was the biggest country in the world or for bragging rights. -
Proclamation of 1763
british congress passes a law stating colonists cannot move past the appalachian mountains or go west at all and for who lived past there to move back. -
Sugar Act
Britain passes act to tax sugar,wine,coffee,calico, and pimiento. -
Stamp Act
British congress passes law stating that colonists had topay taxes on paper that came into the colonies. -
Townshend Acts
British congress passed a law saying that colonist had to pay taxes for lead, paint, paper, and tea. this was caused by the stamp act. this raised taxes very high up in order for england to pay for debts because of the French and Indian War. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers came because of a protest and killed several colonists. -
Tea Act
Britain allows the East India Company to import tea into the colonies directly. The colonies resented what they saw as an indirect tax subsiding a British company. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists took over a cargo ship hauling tea into the colonies and threw the gallons of tea overboard as a rebelish act. -
Intolerable Acts
These were basically british officials raising taxes to get colonists to submit to the king and obey all of his orders. -
Battle of Lexinton and Concord
A battle between a large English army and an emerging amount of minutemen for massachusets. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
colonists alarmed men that british soldiers were coming from the coast and the americans pulled off a victory by the quick alert. -
Common Sense
this book, made in 1776 and made by Thomas Paine, was about him challenging the authority of the British government and asking politely from become free to Great Britain. -
Declaration of Independence
This was a document stating that the colonists were going to fight for their independence from Great Britain. -
Battle of Saratoga
this battle was quick and one of americas first victories and once called the begginning of a new nation born in freedom. -
Battle of Yorktown
the last battle of the american revolution. on september 28th, american and french troops arrived and on october 19th the British officially surrendered to the Americans. -
Treaty of Paris
in 1783 George III made his Proclamation of Cessation of Hostilities, going in the Peace Treaty of 1783. Signed in Paris in 1783. This formally ended the United States War for Independence.
