    Christopher Columbus discovers America
    On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus landed in the Bahamas. He was originally sailing for East Asia. When he arrived he believed he was in East Asia. He left Europe with three ships. I chose to talk about this event because it’s a very important piece of history. This is the start of a new beginning for all people. A new country was born because of the founding of it. Without Columbus finding the America’s it wouldn’t have had its 13 colonies. Or it’s independence.
  • Early Settlers arrive in Jamestown

    Early Settlers arrive in Jamestown
    On May 24, 1607 a group of 104 English men and boys arrived in North America. They were looking to start a settlement and they found one in Virginia and named it Jamestown. It is named after there king. This is the first successful settlement. I chose this event because it’s once again a step closer to the 13 colonies and all the wars over territory.

    Slaves were first brought to America
    On August 20, 1619, the first slaves were brought to America. They arrived in a settlement near Jamestown. They were brought here after British privateers captured them from a Portuguese slaves ship. I chose to talk about this event because this is the start of something that will have an affect on us History til the end of time. This event led to more historic events.

    French and Indian War

    On may 28, 1754, the French and Indian war started. It was a war between the French and British over territory and land. The British won this war. The war ended on February 10, 1763. I chose to talk about this event because this war is what started the talk about independence and later events that happen are going to be because of this war.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    On January 1 1764 the Sugar Act was created. The sugar act is a law enacted by Britain to increase British revenues by preventing the smuggling of molasses into the American colonies and enforcing the collection of higher taxes and duties. It was a easy way to make the colonists pay off the debt from the French and Indian war. I chose to talk about this event because this us when people started to get mad at their king a lot more and this is one of the many acts that are yet to come.

    On March 22, 1765 the Stamp act was created. The act required the colonists to pay a tax, represented by a stamp, on various forms of papers, documents, and playing cards. The act was to help pay for British troops stationed in the colonies during the Seven Years' War. I chose this event because this event was yet another act that would made citizens and colonists angry.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    On March 5, 1770, the Boston massacre happened. This is a deadly riot that happened between colonists and soldiers. A patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers killed 5 colonists. I chose to talk about this event because this shows how riots were already happening and how the colonies being ruled by the British wasn’t working anymore.

    On May 10, 1773 the Tea Act was created. The act was established by the British Parliament, giving all control of the trade and delivery of tea to the East India Tea Company. The tea to go directly to America instead of having to go to Britain and then go to the colonies. I chose this event because this event taxed tea which was making the colonists riot and angry more.

    On December 16, 1773 the Boston Tea Party happened. It started when the colonists didn’t want the tea that was in there port but the workers didn’t care and did it leave until they paid. So the colonists dressed up as native Americans jumped on the ships and dumped the tea into the ocean. I chose to talk about this event because it’s showing how outrages everything is getting and how bad the colonists are getting tired of these new changes.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was created. It states that the United States of America were a free country no longer ruled by Great Britain. The acts that the king had made showed how wrong he was. I chose to write about this event because this event is when America became independent and all the people In it. The slaves were not free yet. But it was a step closer to where we are today.
