I am a farmer. I am moving to the Great Plains with my husband and family. I hear that they are giving away land because of the homestead act . I hope my family can get a piece of land to be able to plant crops and make enough to be able to sell it.

The ending of open range has benefitted our family greatly. Now that all the land is sectioned off cattle and bison can no longer pass through our land. It is a lot more calm now and our crops are growing better because the cattle don't get into our land

We have been living in the Great Plains for several years now. A brand new invention, barbed wire, was just created. It has helped my familie's farm a lot. The barbed wire helps us section off our land, but more importantly it keeps the cattle away from our land. Now our crops can grow.
