Christopher Columbus
An Italian explorer sailing for Spain who believed that Asia (India) could be reached by sailing west from Europe. His first voyage was in 1492, wherein he discovered North America (Caribbean islands) and named it the West Indies. He will make four voyages to the new world without fully realizing what he had discovered. -
James town
James town was the first setlement in america. It was settled in 1607,it serves as the capital of virgina. They had a hard first year, they didnt prepare for winter so many died due to this. -

This is where james town started theb became cololina. Later it slip into north and south carolina, this was mainly due to salvery. They were very into agriculture. -

This is where poeple from the mayflower came from england to find america. This is the 2nd sussesful colonie. They made a town and lived with the native americans, they both showed each other diffrent ways of living. -

One of the original 13 colinies. This was a group of puritans that came over from england in the 1630s. They created thier govenment and a lifestyle, the puritans wanted religous freedom. -
New England Colonies
This was a small group of puritans that seprated from the church, They arrived in plymouth with the mayflower and would be later establish New hamshire, conneticut, and Rhode island. -

New york was created by james the duck of york. The dutch had settled and had been living there before it became new york, they stayed put when james claimed the land. -

The middle passgae is where enslaved africans were forced to come to america. They took the passage that we used to trade guns, clothing, brass, and more. -

The French and indian war started in 1756 and ended in1763. This is known as the 7 year war. We where expanding towards the ohio river valley, this is when we ran into an issue with people already settled. the french and the indians worked together to fight the british. -

The Stamp act is the first way the colines tried to make revinue, this was the first idea of taxation. This was where you had to have a stamp to mail an item or even have paper, the stamp would cost money and that goes back into the country. -

The boston tea party happened in 1773. Tea had come over from the british and american colinist threw them into the harbor. The americans were protesting taxastion on tea. -

This was the beginning of the american revlution. Americans wanted their freedom from british. They met in Lexington and has a Battle. -

This is where lord charles and his army surrenderd to Gorege washington. This was the last mojor battle in the american revolution. -

Gives the cogress rights to regulate ferign affairs, postal servise, borrow money and the value of the coin. This was addopted by the congress in 1777. This was the first constatuion it didnt work. -

A meeting to adress the weaknesses in the govenment. They talked about amending the articals of coferation. They tried to make a new contutution. -

The first 10 commandment of the US. It states the equality of american citezens. The bill of right has legal force. -

United states purchached land from france. This land was the western half of the missipi basin. United states purched about 3 cents per acre. -

This was a "railroad" that was created pre civil war for slaves to escape their owners. They would leave and take this path that has safe houses and more on the way. -

This is where idian tribes were removed from the government. they were given their own plots of land called reservations. They were being pushed out of their land when settlement moved west. -

This is a book that is writen about a man who enslaved. This book is all about slavery, how it felt, what it looked like. This made the south mad because they didnt think it looked as she decribles it in the book. -

This is a small civil war that was fought in the US. this was due to pro slaves states and antislave states. Kansas was becoming a new state and they were trying to decide the who would take control. -

This is the begging of the civil war, states started to bale from the states. This is when south carolina broke off and started civil war. -

This is where the south had a crushing defete of the south. The North started to win. It was a 4 day battle. This is the turing point of the war. -

Speech given by Abraham Lincon. This speech was followed after a 2 hour speech. His was only 275 words it was quick and had many contraversal opions. -
Emancipation Proclamation
This is half way through the war. This is when lincon signs a paper freeing all the slaves. This makes every black person free and a united states citezen. -
Confederate States of America
The 11 states that are slaves states wanted to be free from the union. They didnt want to be part of the government and tried to get away. -
Battle of Appomattox Court House
This is one of the final battle of the civil war. This was right before the union gave up and coensides with the north. -
Civil war
The 11 southern states wanted freedom from the government. This creates a war this war went from 1860-1865. the union trying to leave finally gave up and stayed with the Uited states. -

This was the movemnt to end slavery. This movment wanted to give slaves freedom, States slowly started to abolish slavery and made them free states. -
Manifest Destiny
This is when we started to expand our land. We started to colinise towards the west. These people felt like they had to move west for god. They thought they had to move.
