    Georgia is founded as a shelter to the poor.

  • The Stono Rebellion

    Fugitive slaves were promised freedom if they were to fight for a governor in Florida.

  • Act is passed that forbids paper money

  • French and Indian War (1756-1759)

    Iroquois Indians, Ohio, the French, and the British go to war over land. The British win and the French surrender.

  • The Currency Act

    An act is passed to enforce the use of British currency in the colonies.

  • Treaty of Paris

  • The Boston Massacre

    An angry mob in Boston gets shot by British soldiers. The soldiers may have been acting in self defense. Seven people die.

  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists in Boston destroyed British imported tea in retaliation to the Tea Act.

  • Intolerable Acts

    A series of acts enacted on the colonists (especially Boston) as punishment for the Boston Tea Party.
