    proclamation of 1763
    This proclamation did not allow colnists to settle west of the appalachian mountains. The British government feard the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclamation because they felt they had won the right to settel in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War.

  • Quarteing Act

    Quarteing Act
    Parliment passed this law in 1765. this requied the Colonies to quarter/house the British soldiers and provide with what ever they needed. The Colonists did not like this.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act required all legal and commericsl document to have an offical stamp showing that a tax has been paied. Even diplomas, wills, and contracts had to have a stamp on it. Newspapers had to be written on special stamped papper. The colonists did not like this at all and colonial leaders protested.
  • Twonshend Act

    Twonshend Act
    Townshend Act (1767) places important taxes or duties on glass,paint , lead, tea, and other goods. The British used wits of assistance to enforce acts.
  • Tea Act & Boston Tea Act

    Tea Act & Boston Tea Act
    Parliament repealed all the acts except the tax on tea. Parliment did this to show that it still had the right to tax the colonies. Tea was very important/popular to the colonies and now only tea could be sold from companys. This lead to the Boston Tea Party of 1773. The evening of Dec 16,1773 a group of men pretended to be Native American and borbed 3 tea ships that were docked in the Boston Harbor, and destroyed all the tea abord

    Olive Branch Petition
    The Olvie Branch Petition is a document that asked the king to restore harmony between Britian and the colonies. Some members opposed the petition but latter signed anyway. The king also opposed the petition and rejected it.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    British troops went to lexington and are met by 70 militiamen. After awile what is known as the shot around the world begins(8 militiamen were found dead). British soon went to concord to destroy the supplies but discover it has all been hiden.minutemen wait at concoed and fight the British who soon must retreat. Patriots are those who support the rabels, and loyasist are those who support the british. Lexington and Concord are the first battles of the revolutionary war.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    A small committee that included Benjamin Franklin, John Adams. Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, and Thomas Jefferson to draft a Declaration of Independence. the committee chose Thoman Jefferson to make the Declaraton because of two reasons which are, because he was an excellent writer, and because he was form Virginia. After weeks of preparing it was finally ready, and from this point foward, the colonies could call themselves independent. This sepertated the colonies from Great Britain.
