Jamestown was named after King James the first. The importance of this is that is started the wave of colonization that began the United States.

Even though we had lost this battle, to keep Texas from Mexico, this was a great battle and the men who lost their lives died with honor.
The importance is that this did not stop us from fighting, we perservered even though the scene was bleak. -
It lasted from 1861-1865 The North and the South were fighting over slavery. Although the North didn't need it because of industry and South did because of the farms, it still was not a good way to treat other human beings. This was VERY important because it gave America the name "home of the free" because no matter the background you are from, you are welcome to make this country your home.
