Ngo Dinh Diem is assassinated and he is replaced by Minh. After being assasinated politics in Vietnam become controversial and communism is starting to spread throughout the rest of Vietnam. -
LBJ is Elected
LBJ gets elected and eventually he would cause the U.S to get more involved with Vietnam. He was sworn into office right after JFK was assasinated. -
Gulf of Tonkin Incident
The U.S. was provoking Vietnam battleships to shoot at us we thought we were shot at but it wasn't their ship. After thinking we were shot at we sunk one of their battleships. -
Operation Rolling Thunder
The U.S. started bombing Vietnam thinking they were going to surrender. But Vietnam was not really effected by the U.S bombing their country since they could just adapt. -
The First U.S. troops arrive in Vietnam
Since the first U.S. troops are sent to Vietnam it means we can't just leave this war now we have to fight. Eventually after 10 years the U.S. decides to leave Vietnam. -
Richard Nixon is Elected President
LBJ does not run for a second term so Nixon runs for president and wins. Nixon his whole idea with trying to win the were in Vietnam he just wants to nuke them which could cause way bigger problems and eventually in does not happen. -
The U.S. Leaves Vietnam
The U.S. makes the decision that we should leave Vietnam. We left because the death toll was rising and Vietnam was not going to lose this war. -
Fall of Saigon
South Vietnam surrenders to the north and they take over Saigon. South Vietnam falls into communism and Vietnam is still a Communist country.
