    Frank L. Baum Publishes "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"
    "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was actually a political allegory representing the gold standard. When Dorothy being picked up a cyclone represented the Free Silver movement, The Yellow Brick Road stands for the gold standard, Dorothy's silver shoes symbolize the Populist Party's wanting to have standard with both gold and silver. Oz represents the President. The witches stand for the oil standard, and so on and so forth.

    The President of the United States, William McKinley, was shot and fatally wounded on September 6, 1901, inside the Temple of Music on the grounds of the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. After his death, Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt becomes the 26th President of the United States.

    Orville and Wilbur Wright were the first to invent an aircraft with controls. Their secret was their invention of the three-axis control, which allowed the pilot to succesfully steer the aircraft and keep its equilibrium at the same time. The Europeans were actually anti-Wright and didn't believe them until the Wright brothers flew a plane in Europe for the first time, in which the Europeans apologized.

    President Theodore Roosevelt first put appointed Taft as the General-Governer of the Phillipines in an attempt to groom him to be Roosevelt's successor. After he served his only term, he became the tenth justice of the Supreme Court - he was the only person to hold both positions. He also sought to emphasize the trust-busting and civil service reform. He tried to increase the economy of Latin America and Asia.

Eventually Italy switched to the Allies side and the war progressed as more nations joined. It all started when Austria-Hungary invaded Serbia, and later when Germany invaed Belgium.

The Lusitania sank.

It was mostly caused when Germany sealed off the British Isles, hurting the United Kingdom which was a prime trading partner with the U.S.

    It allowed women to be able to vote and no longer allowed states to have voting laws that were based on gender. It was originally introduced in 1878.
