This act as part of the New Deal, incentivized reducing production of certain crops and alternative uses for resources, in order to improve crop prices. This was in response to the World War, Great Depression, and Dust Bowl; farmer support and price control will be an ongoing theme in these farm bills.

The Farm Bill is an omnibus bill governing many agricultural policies. This bill is renewed about every five years. This gives policymakers an opportunity to regularly address agricultural policy issues. The US has passed 18 farm bills.

This act adjusted some of the implements from the 1933 version. This act established the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation and compensated farmers for conservation practices.

This act reauthorized the Food Stamp program for the first time, and has been reauthorized in every bill, helping to ensure low income families have food. This was also the first 'omnibus' policy, expanding interests beyond supporting farms, to other agricultural areas.

This is the current farm bill to be revised in 2023. This bill renewed most of the 2014 Farm Act. It increases spending by about 1% with 76% expected to go to food assistance programs.
