    The Spanish flu was a pandemic, it was a new influenza A virus. it spread and easily infected people throughout the whole world. very few people had some immunity to this disease. the Spanish flu killed about 33% of the worlds population at the time.

    on January 11th, 1922 insulin was first used to treat a person with diabetes. the boys name was Leonard Thompson, a 14 year old boy with type 1 diabetes, within 24 hours Leonards very high like dangerous high blood sugar levels dropped and he was ok

    On may 30th 1922 an estimated 50,000 people gathered on the banks of the potomac river for the lincoln memorial dedication. everyone decided that the next president would full fil what lincoln had wanted to do before he died

    The first broadcasting company was the (NBC) National Broadcasting Company but in 1922 the (BBC) British Broadcasting Company was made. the purpose of BBC news was to act in the public interest serving all audiences throughout the whole world with high-quality and distinctive output and services which informed educate and entertain.

    The Ku Klux Klan a genocidal domestic terrorist organization went after a lot of different religions and races just because they hated them. they went after Catholics, Jews, Asians, African Americans, and Europeans. they did not have any reason to hate them they were just racist. The KKK was a really dangerous group of people led by Thomas Robb and David Duke. Thomas Robb believed that when black people were not being racially profiled white people were not safe and now we are.

    The 19th amendment legally guarantees women the right to vote. this was a very hard and time-consuming thing for the senate to pass this amendment. this is a very big deal because for several generations women have had protests and marched and did everything they could to make the government let them have rights

    On May 26th the U.S. government enacted the eugenics-inspired immigration act. this act completely prohibited immigration from Asia, this was made to limit immigration to the U.S.. this was also made for mostly eastern and southern Europeans and Asians

    on October 9th well after the hurricane happened the red cross said that 372 people had died in the hurricane and over 6,000 were injured. the damages in 1926 dollars it were $105 million which in today's money it would be way more than $164 million 44

    it was the first mechanically ventilated under water vehicular tunnel. this was also the first Hudson river crossing in new york city. it was considered an out standing engineering achievement.
  • U.K. passes equal franchise act to make the voting age the same for men and women

    this acted widened suffrage by giving women electoral equality with men. it gave the vote to women over 21 years old regaroless of property ownership also before this act women had to be over 30 years old and they had to met minimum property qualifications could vote.
