    Theme 3:Wars /Conquests 1914-Present

Although the time period 1914-present showed lots of continuity in the ways it remained the same throughout time, it showed more change over time in the ways everything changed afterward such as 9/11 attacks and the wars.
  • World War 1

It was a global war mostly centered in Europe.More than 9 million combatants died as a result of the war, a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technoogical and industrial sophistication, and tactical stalemate. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history,This was a change over time becasue by the end of the war German Empire, Russian Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire had ceased to exist. The maps were redrawn, with several independent nations restored.
  • World War 2

It was was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, though related conflicts began earlier. It involved the vast majority of the world's nations—including all of the great powers—eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis.. This was a continuity because Japan and Russia till this day have not signed the peace treaty.
  • Invasion of Poland

It was a joint invasion of Poland by Germany, the Soviet Union, and a small Slovak contingent that marked the beginning of World War II in Europe. The German invasion began on 1 September 1939, one week after the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, while the Soviet invasion commenced on 17 September following the Molotov-Tōgō agreement which terminated the Russian and Japanese hostilities. This is a change over time because after Hitlers reign was over,Poland went back to being itw own.
  • Atomic bombing Nagasaki and Hiroshima

In August 1945, during the final stage of the Second World War, the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This was a continuity becasue the bombings ruined the city and the radiation from the bombs still continues to affect people that live in that area.
  • Partition of India

The Partition of India was the process of dividing the subcontinent along sectarian lines, which took place in 1947 as India gained its independence from the British. This was a continuity becasue India is still free from British rule and remains split with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
  • Korean War

The Korean War was a war between North and South Korea, in which a United Nations force led by the United States of America fought for the South, and China fought for the North, which was also assisted by the Soviet Union. This was a continuity because the north and the south are still split and the north remains communist. There are still tensions and conflicts between the two countries
  • Indo-Paki War of 1965

his war started following Pakistan's Operation Gibraltar, which was designed to infiltrate forces into Jammu and Kashmir to precipitate an insurgency against rule by India. India retaliated by launching a full-scale military attack on West Pakistan. Most neutral assessments agree that India had the upper hand over Pakistan when ceasefire was declared. This was a continuity becasue still Kashmir is the casue of disputes between the two countries till this day
  • Iran-Iraq War

The Iran–Iraq War was an armed conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq lasting from September 1980 to August 1988, making it the 20th century's longest conventional war. This was a continuity becasue these coutnries still have conflict between each other.
  • Persian Gulf War

It was odenamed Operation Desert Shield for operations leading to the buildup of troops and defense of Saudi Arabia and Operation Desert Storm was a war waged by coalition forces from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait. This was a change becasue the war changed everything afterwards. The countries ties were never the same.
  • 9/11

The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States in New York City and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.This was a change over time because ever since these attacks, everythings changed. Laws and safety featyures have been improved. Airports and public monuments are no longer as easy to access as they were before. American secuirty got a lot stricter.
