  • Germany loses WWI

    This defeat shortly becomes a rallying cry for Hitler. He uses this to help launch his campaign to start WWII. This shows continuity because the Germans were always nationalistic.

    Although Germany was extremely nationalistic, outside influences such as other countries, reparations, and division of the state affected Germany's ability to continue to be nationalistic.
  • Nazism

    This is an extreme form of nationalism that Germany had. This proves continutiy because it was the same ideology of earlier germany just elevated.1
  • Halocaust

    This was Hitler's elimination of the Jews. This even happened because the Germans followed Hiotler's promises to have an all powerful German race. This is again nationalism because the Germans are doing it for their country.

    Germany is occupied by 4 different nations each with their own ideas. This is a change because Germany was used to conquering land.
  • Cold War Begins

    The focal point of the cold war is Germany, Tensions where high during this time. This is a change because the Germans did not have much control of what was going to happen.
  • Marshall Plan

    This was aimed at European democracies to help rebuild. In Germany ikt was aimed at West Germany to get an ally iin the fight against Russia which is a change.
  • Governments in Germany

    West Germany had a democratic democracy and the East had a communist state. This is a change because it was a totalrian state before.
  • Truman doctrine

    This doctrine stated that Commnism would be contained in Soviet controlled areas. This iis a change sinc eGermany was not subjugated to communism before.
  • Berlin wall erected

    This was done by east Germany to limit the amount of refugees leaving the state. This is a change because it created a divide in the nation.
  • Berlin Wall falls

    The Berlin wall falls ending the split of the nation. This is it's reunification addiing to the nationalist behavior.
