Social Security Act
An act to provide for the general welfare by establishing a system of Federal old-age benefits, and by enabling the several States to make more adequate provision for aged persons, blind persons, dependent and crippled children, maternal and child welfare, public health, and the administration of their unemployment compensation laws. It was created by Franklin D. Roosevelt. With out this people that are disabled would have to work. -
Fair Labor Standards Act
The Fair Labor Standards Act establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and youth employment standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. It was created by President Roosevelt. This act help steadies things out. -
Equal Pay Act
Employers may not pay unequal wages to men and women who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility, and that are performed under similar working conditions within the same establishment. It was created by President Kennedy. With out this Act the women would not be treatied fairly as men. -
Employment Retirement Income Security Act
It protects the retirement assets of Americans by implementing rules that qualified plans must follow to ensure that plan fiduciaries do not misuse plan assets.It was created by John F. Kennedy. Without this Act people would have to work till they died. -
Federal Privacy Act
It regulates what personal information the Federal Government can collect about private individuals and how that information can be used. It was created by US Congress. Without this act people can get all your infroemation and try to be you. -
Drug Free Workplace Act
It requires some federal contractors and all federal grantees to agree that they will provide drug-free workplaces as a condition of receiving a contract or grant from a federal agency. It was created by US Congress. If this was not an act people would do drugs all the time. -
Emplyee Polygraph Protection Act
It generally prevents employers from using lie detector tests, either for pre-employment screening or during the course of employment, with certain exemptions. It was created by US Congress. Without this act they could use these things 24/7 no matter what. -
Family and Medical Leave Act
It provides certain employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. It also requires that their group health benefits be maintained during the leave. It was created by Presidernt Bill Clenton. Without this act pregnate women can not get off work for bed rest.
