  • Conquest by the Cradle

    During the 1700s, population in the North America increased due to the fact that people in Britain were coming in large numbers. Eventually there were more people in the colonies than in Britain. This is significant because it cause North America to be more populated.
  • The Great Awakening

    During the 1730-1740s, The Great Awakening happened because of Puritanism's decline. People were upset, so a religions outbreak occurred. It is significant because it was one of the first events that unified the colonies.
  • Global War

    In 1754, the French and Indina war took place. It was fought in places like America, Europe, the West Indies, Africa, and the Philippines. It was about the control of the Ohio River Valley.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    In 1764, Prime Minister George Grenville got Parliament to pass the Sugar Act of 1764. It increased the duty on foreign sugar imported from the West Indies. This is significant because it was the first law to raise tax revenue in the colonies for England.
  • Boston Massacre

    Parliament passed the Townshend Act which put a light import tax on glass, white lead, paper, paint, and tea. Colonists in America were in disagreement with this so they revolted. On March 5, 1770, 60 people attacked 10 redcoats; the roadcotas fired civilians killing 11 of them. This was know as the Boston Massacre.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The British East India Company had overstock 17 million pounds on tea, so they sold it to Americans at a discount. The colonists were scared that it was another trick to pay taxes so they rejected the tea. On December 16, 1773, people from Boston boarded the ships and dumped the tea in the sea.
