  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was fought over the Ohio River Valley between Britain and France fighting over the territory. The war was from 1754-1763. The 4 major battles were the Battle of Saratoga, Yorktown, Lexington & Concord, and Trenton.The Treaty of Paris ended the war and it led up to America getting their independence.
  • 5 grievances

    5 grievances
    The 5 grievances were acts passed by Paliament after the French and Indian War. They put taxes on certain things and colonists didn't like them.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was passed in 1764 and it put taxes on sugar, the colonists did not like it.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act was passed one year later, in 1765. It placed taxes on many printed materials such as newspapers.
  • Townshend Acts

    This tax was after the stamp act had been repealed, because Britain still needed money.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This tax was a tax on tea, and the colonists depsised it so much that they threw all the tea into the Boston harbor. That is known as the Boston Tea Party.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    These were basically punsihments that King George created for the colonists. The acts were:
    -Boston harbor closed
    -colonists had to quarter soldiers
    -no trial
    -no self-government in Boston
    -Quebec Act was passed
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence gave us our freedom. It was written in 1776, by Thomaas Jefferson. It was signed at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
