  • Working mens party of New York

    A political party founded in April of 1829
  • Lowell Female Labor Reform Association

    A community that grew and lived together. It was the first union of woman workers. The membership started with 12 and grew to 500 in half a year and continued to grow.
  • New york city tailors strike

    Protested the sweatshop system. They wanted an hour of at noon. And a weekly minimum wage, and a weekly pay day.
  • New England shoemakers strike

    3000 shoemakers walked away from their jobs. Their pay was increased. And they got recognition for some labor unions.
  • Collar laundry Union Strike

    They wanted better working conditions. They also wanted better pay. 6 days later their demands were given into.
  • San Francisco Anti-Chinese riots occur

    It lasted 2 days. It was against the Chinese immigrants/refugees in SF. Violence went across Chinatown and killed 4 people and destroyed over $50,000 of property that belonged to the Chinese.
  • Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890

    This law forbids restraints across state borders. And courts ruled that union strikes and boycotts were okay by law.
  • National labor relations act

    Guarantees basic rights of private sector employees.
  • Equal pay act

    This law gave all sexes the eqaul right to get paid the same.
