    Amir wins kite competition and is very proud, he makes Baba happy. Afterwards in an alley, Hassan is raped by Assef and Amir witnesses it. (pg 55)

  • (KR) Amir's 13th birthday

    Baba throws a party for Amir's 13h birthday. The party is very big and there are many people. Amir still ignores Hassan after the rape. He gets many gifts but truly appreciates Rahim Khan's gift of the journal. (pg 93)

  • (KR) Hassan and Ali leave Baba

    After Amir's new watch from Baba is found on Hassan's bed, Hassan takes credit of stealing even though he didn't. Baba forgives him immediately but Hassan and Ali tell him they're quitting and want to leave. (pg 107)

    In the summer of 1989, Amir's first book is released and he is sent on tour. In addition, in this year, Amir and Soraya try to have a baby. (pg 183-184)
