First Amphibious Assult

Occured in New Providence Bahamas. This was the first amphibious assult in the history of the Marine Corps.

Apr 27, 1805

Attack on Derna, Tripoli

Lieutnant Presley O'Bannon joined Prince Hamet breach the falls of the city and faught in hand to hand combat while the Navy attacked from the sea.
*Prince Hamet gave Lt. O'Bannon the Mameluke Sword as a gift of appreciation. This sword is still carried by all Marine Officers today.

Archibald Henderson

"Grand Old Man of the Marine Corps"
He served as Cammandant of the Marine Corps for 38 years, the longest period of and Commandant in the history of the Marine Corps.

Battle of Chapultepec

Chapultepec was a fortress that was situatied outside Mexico City. The Marines partisipated in a very bloody battle which led the adding the red stripe to the dress blue trousers.

Pearl Harbor

While small in number there was certainly a U. S. Marine presence at Pearl Harbor during the attack. Many of them coming from their on base housing to fight.

Iwo Jima

26,000 casualities. This is the battle in which the famous monument at Arlington National Cemetery is named after. It was also the largest amphibious Marine landing to date.
