    This is one of the reforms of the progressive era. It banned the making of poorly ventilated tenement buildings in New York. It increased awareness of the poor living conditions.

  • Upton Sinclair releases “The Jungle”

    Upton Sinclair wrote the story "The Jungle" to show the awful conditions and lives of immigrants in the U.S. It mainly shows the meat packing industry and it's working conditions. It revealed the horrors and caught attention of readers.

    The U.S. entered the WW1 after it had been going on for 2 and 1/2 years. It had originally begun on July 28, 1914. We declared war on germany on April 6th.

    It was completed on January 16th, but didn't take effect until January 17th. It prohibited the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol.
