    Constitution Was Signed
    -The Constitution of the United States of America was signed by 38 delegates that were present in Philadelphia.
    -The Constitution makes up America's government and its laws and guarentees citizens to have rights.
    -There are a total of 27 amendments in the Constitution.

  • Washington DC is chosen as the Nation's Capital

    Washington DC is chosen as the Nation's Capital
    -Congress declared a piece of property betweeen Maryland and Virginia as the site for the nation's capital.
    -They named the capital after the countries war hero and president George Washington.
    -President George Washington let French engineer Pierre-Charles L'Enfant to create the plan for the nation's capital city.

  • The Whiskey Rebellion

    The Whiskey Rebellion
    -The Whiskey rebellion began on March 3rd 1791 and ended in 1794.
    -The Whiskey rebellion was a tax protest that occured because they started to put a tax on whiskey.
    - Many of the protestors were war veterans who believed that they were fighting for the rights they earned from the American Revolution.

  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    -It was an effort betweeen the US Senate and the House of Represetatives to keep a balance of power between the slave states and the free states.
    -The slavestates were scared that if they were outnumbered in Conressional representation that they would lose power to protect their property and trade.
    -It passed an amendment that created a boundary across the Louisana teritory creating a new boundry for the free and slave regions.

  • Kansas Nebraska Act

    Kansas Nebraska Act
    -A bill that mandated that people must allow settlers to decide if slavery is allowed within a new state's borders.
    -It overturned Missouri compromise's use as the boudaries between slave and free territories.
    -The supporter of this act was Senator Stephen Douglas of Illinois.

  • Dred Scott vs Sandford

    Dred Scott vs Sandford
    -The Dred Scott case was argued Febuary 11-14, 1856. Reargued December 15-18, 1856. And decided on March 6, 1857.
    -The Dred Scott case was a decision by the US Supreme Court about whether African Americans could sue in federal court.
    -Dred Scott tried to sue his owners for enslaving him when he was returned to the free states.

  • The Anaconda Plan

    The Anaconda Plan
    -A strategy during the civil war by general Winfield Scott to put down the rebellion by the confederacy.
    -His plan was to end the rebellion through government measures preventing a bloody war.
    -This plan was to block salt water ports of the South and to stop all trade on te Mississippi River.

  • The Emancipation Proclamation

    The Emancipation Proclamation
    -Lincoln brought up the Emancipatiion Proclamation twice.
    -It stated that if the southern states didn't forfit by January 1st, 1863 then it would go into effect.
    -It only applied to states in rebellion.

  • Sherman's March to Sea

    Sherman's March to Sea
    -Between November 15 - December 21, William Sherman led about 60,000 soldiers through s 285 mile march from Atlanta to Savana Georgia.
    -The purpose of having the march was to scare civilian population into getting rid of the confederacy.
    -Sherman soldiers didnt harm any civilization that didn't fight back but they did steal some food cattle to stay alive.

  • The Assassination of Abriham Lincoln

    The Assassination of Abriham Lincoln
    -Abriham was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in the president box at Ford's theatre in Washington DC.
    -At the time Lincoln's body guard left his position to watch the play.
    - Booth escaped Ford's theatre and was on the run for 12 days before he was found.
