    This was a war fought between the Pequot people against settlers from the Saybrook, Massachusetts Bay, and Connecticut colonies. It was the first lengthy conflict between the Native Americans and Europeans in North America.It began because of a struggle for control over the region's trade.

    Beaver Wars

    The Iroquois Confederacy fought other Indigenous groups for land and territory to gain access to the fur-bearing game animals. The fur trade was affected to the point where the French retaliated by destroying Iroquois crops and homes. This conflict ended with the Treaty of Grande Paix, which was made between the Iroquois Confederacy, the British, and the French. The Iroquois agreed to stop their campaign against other tribes and let those tribes come back to their lands.

    This treaty brought an end to the Second Anglo-Dutch War and was made between England, Denmark, France, and the Dutch Republic. The treaty was made to bring peace quickly because of the French invasion of the Spanish Netherlands.

    King Philip's War

    This war was the indigenous people's last effort to deny English authority and stop further settlement. A Christian native named John Sassamon warned Plymouth that Metacom, known as Philip, planned to attack. He was later found murdered, and those who were suspected of killing him were hanged. This event ignited tensions between the English and the Wampanoags. Many series of raids led to war, and the war ended when Philip was killed and mutilated.

    Bacon's Rebellion
    This was an armed rebellion led by Virginia settlers. Rising prices on English good, economic problems, a restricted English market led, and several other issues were going on that were causing the settlers to be at wits end. They decided to blame the indigenous groups around them. Bacon took advantage of this and tried to make himself the leader. He had so many followers that people hunted down Governor Berkeley when Bacon appealed for his capture. This rebellion ended when Bacon died in 1676.

    This is also referred to as the Bloodless Rebellion. It involved the overthrow of the Catholic King James II of England, and he was replaced by his Protestant daughter, Mary and her husband. This event changed how England was governed.

    Salem Witch Trials
    A group of young girls and Women in Salem, Massachusetts claimed to be possessed by the devil and were accused of witchcraft. Mass hysteria spread throughout Massachusetts, and many women were convicted and put on trial. Most died before the trial in prison or under other circumstances. Many men, women, and children were accused of witchcraft.

    This is the Treaty that ended the Nine Years War. Louis XIV agreed to recognize William III as the king of England, and the French handed over several cities to their original owners.
