In 2008, in college basketball the team came second in the Division IV state tournament. -
Beginnings of his new band
Twenty One Pilots was formed in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio and consisted of leader Tyler Joseph, bassist Nick Thomas whom he already knew from college, and drummer Chris Salih. In that year the group moved to its own house. -
First outings as a band
The band initially played for a wide variety of audiences at clubs and venues around the Columbus area. To attract attention, the band began experimenting with costumes and stunts on stage. -
First album as twenty one pilots
Now called Twenty One Pilots, the group released their self-titled debut album, Twenty One Pilots, on December 29, 2009, and began touring Ohio. Its initial marketing was basic; Joseph's mother would stand outside Ohio State University giving away tickets for his shows. -
Josh Dun, a new member!
Salih and Thomas left the band, but Josh Dun, a former drummer for "house of heroes" had already arrived to replace Salih. -
Regional At Best!
A new lineup comprised of just Joseph and Dun, Twenty One Pilots released their second album, "Regional at Best", on July 8, 2011. -
Success with "Vessel"
Tyler and Josh released their third album that would launch them to success, Vessel peaked at 58 on the billboard 200. -
A presentation
On December 24, Christmas Eve, Tyler Joseph participated and sang "O come, O come, Emmanuel" at Five14 Church's Christmas With the Stars in New Albany, Ohio. The official video of the performance was uploaded to YouTube on February 14, 2014 -

Joseph married Jenna Black on March 28, 2015, after they got engaged on July 8, 2014. -
