John D. Rockefeller started Standard Oil in 1870, and by 1879 Standard Oil controlled 90% of Americas refining capacity. Rockefeller obtained the first monopoly by creating Standard oil. The monopoly that was achieved completely changed the business industry.

The Tenement Act ensured there would be no building of dark, unventilated houses/buildings. Many immigrants lived in these places, and it made the spread of disease very prominent. When the law prohibited these buildings, homes became a lot safer.

The book "The Jungle" changed people's views on the meat and packing industry. It really opened everyone's eyes to the true disgust behind the industry. All the disgust people felt made the industry have to change, which in the long run saved lives from illness and disease.

Once this act was passed the meat industry was required to place the nutrition facts on meats, so people could know what they are really buying. Unessacery drugs and sugars declined drastically, which in turn made people healthier. Most foods became safer and healthier to consume.

The Fire that happened could have easily been prevented with a little safety. The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire leads to safety rules and precautions in the workplace because of how terrible it was. It was a horrific tragedy with 146 deaths.

Women getting the right to vote led to many things becoming available for women. The right to vote was a huge leap in the women's suffrage act. After this happened women slowing but surely got their equal rights.
