  • First Trimester

    First Trimester
Three important stages your baby will go through during the First Trimester are: the zygote (or zygotes!) has formed and is dividing rapidly while going towards the uterus; the zygote (a blastocyst at this point) will implant on the uterine wall and becomes an embryo; by week 8 the embryo has a fully functional cardiovascular system! The baby is starting to look more human at this point. It has grown genitalia and, towards the end, fingernails! It makes crying noises but no sounds come out and

it might be sucking its thumb. It's good to start taking prenatal vitamins that help reduce your risk of having a baby with a serious birth defect of the brain and spinal cord, calcium helps your bone growth since your baby will be using it for it's bone growth and iron will help your blood carry oxygen to your baby's! Apparently when the first trimester is going on, she still looks very much the same but still has a ton of hormone changes happening! The best way to help is be supportive and

make time for her, talk to her about the whole pregnancy and try to slow things down while still enjoying yourselves in a healthy manner.
  • Second Trimester

    Second Trimester
Important stages in the Second Trimester are: the baby's sex becomes apparent; the baby skeleton develops bone; and the baby would have grown almost 3 times the size it was after the First Trimester! Your baby is officially a fetus! At this point it can blink its eyes and the body is looking more proportional and human-like. It has a regular cycle of sleeping and waking and it can respond to your voice. It's also becoming more active and probably kicking a lot more. Still eat healthily and

maintain healthy excercising, but now that the baby is growing and the uterus is getting larger, sleeping on your side is recommended. Apparently, sleeping on your left side helps even more! It might sound odd, but a healthy thing to do while in the second trimester could be getting back into "it". Sex during pregnancy is helpful if the course of things are proceeding regularly. It can help you bond, ease the stress of being pregnant, possibly strengthen the pelvic muscles and the enjoyment!

    Second Trimester 3
Being pregnant during the second trimester means startling changes physically as well as hormonally. The best thing to help support them would be by boosting their confidence, helping them with any "cravings" they have and letting them know that you care and that you're still with them through this whole thing.
  • Third Trimester

    Third Trimester
This part gets a little hecting, but it's by far the most exciting! Three important stages/milestones are: the baby's bones are fully developed; around week 37 the baby would have reached full maturity; and the biggest step of all, child birth! The child will have finished growing and will look like a newborn baby, just inside the womb. It's eyes are open much of the time, it can have dreams and it will have developed a firm grasp. Gaining the right amount of weight will help you have a

healthy pregnancy. It's really important, especially during the third trimester, that you gain weight (about a lb a week) as your baby grows rapidly too! Add an extra 300 calories or so to assure that. The best thing that I could do to support at that time would be to get prepared for the birth too! Even though the man isn't actually giving birth it doesn't mean that we don't have responsiblities. Telling her how excited you are, setting up the crib, getting together the baby bag, etc. are grea
