Historians say it began on April 19, 1775 with the battles of Lexington and Concord. The last battle was at Yorktown and in 1783 Great Britain recognized American Independence. -

Battles of Saratoga
Were two battles that marked the return of American Revolution, the fist one on September 19, 1777, and the second one on October 7, 1777. Americans had the support of France, John Burgoyne, a British commander and his troops were surrounded and accepted their defeat.
