  • Russia Mobilizes

    Russia Mobilizes
    Russia mobilizes its vast army to intervene against Austria-Hungary in favor of its ally, Serbia. This starts a chain reaction leading to the rest of European Great Powers to mobilize their forces as well, and inevitably to the outbreak of hostilities.

    Germany resumes unrestricted submarine warfare in European waterways which draw the United States into the war.
  • U.S. Enters War

    U.S. Enters War
    Congress authorizes a declaration of war against Germany. The United States enters World War 1 on the side of France of Britain.

    The Germans sign a peace treaty with the new Bolshevik government of Russia. The terms of the treaty give Germany huge tracts of land that had been the Ukraine and Poland, and peace on the Eastern Front allows Germany to shift soldiers to the Western Front, causing problems for the French, British, and Americans.

    Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. This destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. This leads to America joining the war.

    After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese armies rolled over Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and the East Indies. The war in the Pacific was fought on land, at sea, and in the air. The Battle of Midwat was the turing point in the war having the U.S. take back the Pacific.

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    Japanese fought on even after the war in Europe eded. Truman decided to use the newly developed atomic bomb to end the war quickly and prevent more U.S. casualties. The Atomic bomb killed around 118,000 people and injured more than 100,000.
  • V-J Day

    The day Japan surrendered in World War 2, officially ending World War 2. V-J Day took place after the two bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which caused thousands of death in Japan.
