    The Revolutionary War

    The Revolutinary War was started as British Colonists rebelled against the British, tired of the unfair taxes. The first shots being fired at Concord, unsure of who fired first. The Revolutinary War is the event that gave America its freedom to begin with, creating America. If it were not for it, there would not be an America!
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    This event added a lot of land to America, letting our territory grow even further than it already had. If we would not of bought this territory, America would not be as nearly as large as it is present day. The French would also own that land, as they would of never of sold the land to America. Looking at this from a broader point of view, the land may not of been owned by the France, as they sold it because it was simply a burden while they were in their war with Great Britain.

    The Civil War

    By seceeding from the North, he South took on a new name, The Confederate States of America. The South seceeded for many reasons, to name 2: the issue of paying off the North's debt in the Revolutinary War and slavery. This war waged for nearly 4 years, and was the bloodiest in American history. If the South would of won, this country would probably still have slavery, or simply be smaller, as the South would of been allowed to seceed.

    As slaves were not fully counted as part of the population, the abolition of slavery, made previous slaves people, raising the population. If slavery was never outlawed, perhaps it would still be present today, completely changing America in the sense of: we might rely heavily on the Souths production of cotton, or the North may have slaves as well.

    Alaska was a major place for a gold rush, as in the 1880's and 90's a gold rush took place. It was referred as "Seward's Folly" before this though, as it was simply an icebox. The Purchase of Alaska took place during the Manifest Destiny, so the added land was a good thing. America got richer from it.

    This event seems to be the last event in the struggle for African American's equal rights. African Americans could now have a say in who their leaders are. This shaped American history as how African Americans vote would have a large impact.

    World War 1 (from the day the USA joins)

    By entering World War I, America made stronger allegiance's with the countries in the Allies. This war got America out of the Great Depression, as well. Most importantly, this War established the USA as a World Power, making it much easier to grow to the Superpower it did after WWII.

    Women get the right to vote in 1920, aided by multiple people such as Susan B Anthony and Lucy Stone. This adds about half of the population to the pool of voters, which could drastically affect how the votes may swing, and still would, today.

    The moon landing of Apollo 11 was the result of trial and error on NASA's part. Pushed by John F. Kennedy wanting to make it to the moon before the Russians, as they made it to space before us. This is important, as if the Russians had made it to space first, America may not be seen as such the Superpower it is present day.

    This event helpes shape American history as it made a bunch of changes in security on air planes today, and got us involved in the War Against Terror. We now have a lot of security on airplanes in which we did not previously have. We are now also fighting the War in Afghanistan and the War in Iraq.
