this railroad was more of a symbol than anything, it stood as if they could accomplish anything in their power if they choose to.With the completion of the track the travel time for making the 3,000-mile journey across the United States was cut from a matter of months to under a week. this brought in huge profit to the rail roads, being able to transport goods anywhere in the country was as good as a monopoly.

if Upton never released this book or investigated the meat industry there would have probably been a plague. the sheer amount of gross and disgusting stuff he found out about how they handled the meat was insane, the owners did not care about the meat one bit not this it was infested and contaminated with rats and their poop. the workers didnt have anywhere to wash their hands so the owners just said wash them where we wash the meat. that pretty nasty.
-
the reason this act was passed is mostly for the safety of everyone and how the meat industry took care of their meat and how they processed it is so gross. they didn't care were they put the meat they would just through it in a big pile and let it sit until it would be grinded up and processed. the pile would have rats that would be dead or alive in it and if it did they would just throw the dead rat in with the meat and grind it up. the president considered going vegan after he heard about it.

this horrible event in our country's history led to new and protective laws for the better to ensure something like this never happens again. the fire started in the building when a manger tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher it failed the extinguisher was old and rusted so it couldn't fire.panic ensued when some tried to escape but found the doors locked cause the owners didn't want people to run off during work.146 people died in that fire which was labeled the worst fire in that time

Franz Ferdinand was assassinated cause of his nationalist ideas the person h who killed him was part of a Siberian terrorist group looking to free Bosnia from Austria Hungary's rule. this ended in total disaster his death triggered the alliances across the world to fight each other, some used it as an excuse to invade like the ottoman empire did cause they wanted oil to power their war machines. other fought to protect those they were aligned with and even neutral country's were being targeted
-
the U.S were neutral in the beginning they were selling weapons to the allied powers before they got into the war some of the boats were sank by the Germans which ticked off america a bit. the finale straw came however when Germany sent a ship to mexico to try and persuade them to attack america but america caught the ship found the letter and then declared war.. the funny thing is they called it the great war, the war to end all wars but it the end it was marked as the first world war.

the fight to have women the right to vote took over 70 years slowly but surely, their persistence however was met with resistance from the president and other men.president Wilson promised someday women would get that right to vote but when in office he never perused that issue instead he wanted to focus on some dumb war that didn't even involve us. women had a hard time trying to protest for women's rights cause during war time it looked like treason to the public.the 19th amendment was passed
