    Italian Invasion of Ethiopia
    The league of nations was violated during this war. The leader of Italy adopted Hitler's plans to expand German territories. This means that Hitler is influencing people; people are following his tactics which is one of the main causes for World War 2.
  • Nazi-Soviet Non- Aggression Pact

    Nazi-Soviet Non- Aggression Pact
    This was a pact that Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed to make sure no military action was used on each other. Europe was on the brink of getting into another World War, and this pact was ended when Germany invaded the Soviet Union.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    This was a code name for German invasions of the Soviet Union. German forces were unable to defeat the Soviet Union which caused the major turning point in the war. The Soviet Union was way too powerful since they built up their army earlier on and the German soldiers inability to defeat the Soviet Union, caused a major setback to the effectiveness of the German troops.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese attacked a military base in Hawaii. On a Sunday morning, hundreds of Japanese fighter plans flew over the base and killed around 2,400 soldiers in the attack. This angered the United States, and the U.S declared war on Japan.
  • Second Sino-Japanese War

    The Japanese invaded China due to China resisting the Japanese culture spread. A war broke out. There was a stalemate until the United States got involved making the Japanese surrender. The allies that helped, showed that most countries have allies, and more people get involved than needed.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    This was a brutal military campaign between Russian forces and Nazi Germany. It was a long, large, and bloody battle. From August 1942 through February 1943, more than two million troops fought in close quarters – and nearly two million people were killed or injured in the fighting, including tens of thousands of Russian civilians. This battle turned the side to the allied forces as Germany began to fall.
  • Tunisia Campaign

    Tunisia Campaign
    With victory in Tunisia, the Allies had expelled Axis forces from North Africa and thereby taken a giant step toward victory in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. The United States Army had contributed toward that accomplishment. At the same time, the Army gained thousands of seasoned officers and troops whose experience would prove decisive campaigns. These seasoned soldiers of all ranks would not have to wait or far to go... two months and 150 miles away, the island of Sicily.

    the Allied liberation of Western Europe was saved from Nazi Germany’s control. June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region. The invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning. Germany has now been defeated!!
  • Kamikaze Warfare

    Kamikaze Warfare
    Kamikaze warfare was used by the Japanese. These suicide bombers would lose their lives to try to defeat the United States. More than 1,321 Japanese aircraft crash-dived their planes into Allied warships during the war, desperate efforts to reverse the growing Allied advantage in the Pacific. While approximately 3,000 Americans and Brits died because of these attacks, the damage done did not prevent the Allied capture of the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    This was the last major battle of World War 2 as well as the bloodiest. On Easter Sunday U.S. Navy's fleet went to Okinawa to get the final push to defeat Japan. Japan surrendered, finally, but both sides suffered major causalities. The use of the atomic bomb that was dropped made Japan surrender.
