    French and Indian War

    The British won the war and they recived Canda. The British's purpose was to prevent French from gaining control over trade routes which belonged to the British. The colonists joined the British's side.
  • Tready of Paris

    Tready of Paris
    The Tready of Paris ended the French and Indian war. The British got all the land east of the Misspippi River. The colonists began to settle along the Ohio RIver Valley. The British gained control of the North America to the Missippi River. The colonists were attacked by Native Americans.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    After the Frensh and Indian war new barriers were set up. The colonists were forbidden to cross the Applachian Mountains. British wanted to avoid conflict with Native Americans. Colonists were angry that they didn't want to be told what to do.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    The Sugar Act of 1764 placed tax on sugar and molasses. The British wanted more money for security for colonies. The colonists got their basic rights taken away and they were very upset about it. If they traded with Britian their products will not be worth as much.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    The Stamp Act placed tax on legal documents. The British needed money for war dept so they created the Stamp Act. The colonists refuged to buy British goods until the Stamp Act was over. The Sons of Liberty held meetings to get rid of the Stamp Act of 1765.

    The Writs of Assistance was when custom officers searched ships when ever they wanted.The British government was enforcing trade and navigation laws. Very few colonists were affected but Merchants thought it was an invasion of privacy.

    The Townshend Act of 1767 was to place tax on house hold items. The British wanted to take back hold of colonists. The colonists reacted by boycotting trade.

    The Boston Massacre was created to increase control over colonies. The British created the Boston Massacre to raise taxes
  • Tea Act/Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was when tea merchants in the colonies were cut out of the tea trade. 342 barrels of tea were dumped that day. The British wanted to lower tea prices and sell tea for a lower price.

    The Intolerable Acts were created so that the colonists could not hold town meetings. The British wanted to take control over the 13 colonies.

    The first Continental Congress met in Philadephia. The first Continental Congress met to ban trade with Britain until the Acts were gone.

    Patrick Henry expected a war. The British was in control of the Tolerable Acts which increased restrictions. This war was fighting for Britian to change its policies. The colonists reacted with liberty or death.

    The battle between Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements. The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first shots of the revolution.The British's purpose was to destroy military supplies. The colonists were very suprised how well they did.
  • Bunker Hill

    The Bunker Hill Battle was between the British and the American colonists. The British attacked the Militia because they built fortifications. After this battle the colonists gained more confidence even thought they lost.
  • Concord

    The Battle of Concord was when the British took control of the North Bridge. The British were hiding behid walls, trees and houses. The militia took control of everything in their path. Sadly the British were out numbered 4-1. Lots of militia and British were injured or killed during the Battle of Concord.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga was built by French militaries. The Fort was the first American victory in the American Revolutionary war. Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen captured the British garrison while he was sleeping.

    The Battle of Lexington was known for the first shots of the revolution. These shots were heard all around the world. The first shots of the revolution took place in Massachusetts. The Battle of Lexington included militia and minutemen. Minutemen were soldiers who were ready in a minute. In the Battle of Lexington many minutemen were lost because the British troops fired at the minutemen. The minutemen forced the British to retreat. Paul Revere said "the British are coming" on the midnight ride.

    2nd Continental Congress
    The second Continental Congress started with the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The Continental Army represented the 13 states. George Washington was elected leader of the Continental Army. As a result of the second Continental Army the first American Navy was formed and the government could borrow money from their citizens and include interest. One of the main problems were financing the war. One of the solutions was independent colonies.

    The Common sense increased public support for American independence. The British were controlling the colonies during this time. The colonists created a representative government also known as the Articles of Confederation.

    The Delcaration of Independence was to seperate from Britian. The British had control over the 13 colonies during this time. The colonists reacted to the declaration of independence with joy becasue that was the day when we gained independence.
  • Battle of New York

    The Battle of New York was when the British wanted to capture New York City and take over. The first step to to capture New York City was to attack Washington's army. Washington was smart and traveled to Pennsylvania to avoid the capture. Unfortunally the British took over New York City for the rest of the American Revolutionary War.

    The Battle of Trenton was fought in New Jersey, Trenton. This battle was fought because the Americans were forced to rretreat to New Jersey afer they lost the battle of New York. The Battle of Trenton was between the Americans and the Hessians. Tghe Continental Army had poorly supplied and had their summer clothes on. The Battle was fought in the winter so summer clothes weren't the best clothes to wear.

    The Battle of Princeton was won by George Washington. By winning the Battle and Princeton they beleived they were coming closer to American Independence. The battle was between 450 Americans to 50 British.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was when the American colonists cut down trees and blocked the trails and roads so the British couldn't get where they needed quickly. During this battle, American General Horatio Gates surroundered Burgoyne's remaining forces at Saratoga. The Battle of Saratoga was a turing point in the American Revolution because Benjamin Franklin volunteered to help negotiate the Treaty of Alliance with French and Spain.

    Winter at Valley Forge

    The Winter at Valley Forge was in Pennslyvania. This was a very cold winter, people froze to death because they had no blankets and very little food. George Washington and his men also spent the long cold at Valley Forge. A French volunteer Marquis de Lafayette, helped train the Contiental Army.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    In the Battle of Yorktown General Lord Cornwallis moved his troops to Virginia. Geroge Washington had a spy named James Armistead who gave all of his informatoion to him. James Armistead was also a slave. Cornwallis was trapped by a fleet of French Battleships.

    The Treaty of Paris 1783 was when Great Britain had to recognized the US as a independent country. The US also had to give back the land they took from the Loyalists. The United States gained the land east of the Mississippi River.
  • Quartering Act 1770

    The Quatering Act was the act of forcing people to housing British soldiers and provide them with supplies. The British wanted to protect the colonists from Frenchmen and Indians. The colonists did not like the Quartering Act but they could not do anthing about it.
