    The Potsdam Conference
    The purpose of the Potsdam Conference was to decide what to do with the nations of Germany and how to end the war with Japan. Truman, Stalin, and the leader of Great Britain were participants during this time. The conference was in Potsdam, Berlin in the year of 1945. Germany was defeated but Japan was still fighting. The reason for this is because they needed Stalin to invade Japan and they divide Germnay and Berlin.

    The Truman Doctrine Passed
    The Truman Doctrine was created by President Harry Truman. The purpose for this document was that the United States promised to support the people that are fighting communism. The United States helped Turkey and Greece.

    Once having to be able to travel the land of Germany to deliever supplies to Berlin. Although, the Soviets let us down on their land with only being allowed very few routes to travel to Berlin, they blocked them. The Soviets thought they under handed us but they thought wrong. With the brilliant idea of flying over Berlin to deliver supplies their was nothing the Soviets could do to stop us.

    Mao Zedong was a strong communist that was willing to do anything to keep up with the communsit building around him. Mao was trying to take over China; this nation was deciding between communsit and democracy. The people to make a decision was the people of NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization. In the end, communist won and the decendants of Mao continue the communist establishment that is still active today.

    Northern and Southern Korea both rivals never to get along either wanting to associate with each other. North Korea is communist, South is democracy. North Korea attacks, once this happens, we leave to save American soldiers, only leaving a tiny speck left of "South Korea". America returns with a punch by puching North Korea back to the 38th parallel.

    The H-Bomb Cometh's goal was to kill large numbers of people quickly. The Americans wanted to dare the Soviet Union. The H-Bomb was created by the Americans. This bomb was deadly and bigger. It was tested on an islan known as Bikini Island. The soviet responded by building their own H-bomb to match the US and to maintain its power. Each side launches all it's buclear weapons at the other in retaliation. Both sides suffer the consequences and lose. This led to mutal assured destruction.

    They both want to win the Cold War and be on top. Both developed nuclear weapons. The USSR develops the KGB to spy on foreign nations including the USA. They were after weapon’s; especially nuclear technology. The Warsaw Pact included Albania, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, East Germany, Hungary, Czechoslovakia Publicly, the USSR created the Warsaw Pact because they wanted to complete with NATO. Now, there are 2 groups of nations.

    As always, the USSR and the USA are always against each other, it could be a tooth brush or an egg. No matter what, each tries to be the best. The USSR, in a matter of seconds, America noticed a little white dot flying into the sky. America contacted the USSR, now knowing that they had sent the first space shuttle into space. The USA was shocked, feeling uneasy about what had recently happened, how the USSR was ahead and can now do more things than America.

    The U2 Spy Plane was created by the Americans. They wanted to know what was going on in the Soviet's military bases. USSR saw the U2 Spy Plane and they had shot it down. USSR had captured the pilot as well. They contacted the Americans saying that they were spying on the USSR and the Americans lied that they didn't send anybody over to their bases but the pilot had told the truth.

    As always Cuba has been close to America we were never afraid anything could ever happen until the day Fidel Castro rose to power.In order to protect their valuable country they built an armor of Cuban exiles who were in America to fight against their last country. Attacking at the rear end of Cuba we were defeated by killing and taking in exiled Cuban as hostages. That same year the Berlin wall rose to keep Communist and anti-Communist seperated, although some managed to escape from Communism.

    In 1962, Cuba was occupied by Fidel Castro, an ally of the Soviet Union. This was another disaster for America. Being 90 miles from the USA, rhe Soviets saw that there was a chance to put missles close to America. Before they actually put these items on Cuba, silos were needed, we were able to see this using the U2 Spy Plane. America decided to blockade the island so the USSR couldn't send the missles. Surrounding Cuba we said if you turn back and don't send your missles over we'll back down.

    John F. Kennedy, who was he? Was he a good man? Mnay would say he was but why would he be killed? Rumor says that the man who shot Kennedy was associated with a Russian women when he traveled. He traveled from America to Mexico to Cuba then went back the same route. Proving that he could have been the one to show him. No one had a chance to ask him because someone shot him then the murderer shot himself.

    America’s steps to Vietnam, the US presidents faced a dilemma. President Lyndon had a few different responses from military advisors of ways to fight the war with North Vietnam. August 2, 1964, three North Vietnam torpedo boats fired on the USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin. The captain of the Maddox was ordered back into the Gulf and the captain called back saying they were under attack. But they were just overreacting. President Lyndon ignored the second message suggests to make further action.

    In 1965 Vietnam was fighting against France. We Wanted to help France because of our policy, although when we joined they had droped out. This was one of the worst things they could have done to America beucase we were not ready for a complete war with no help. America then sent out thousands of more soldiers into the war to help them win. But in the end America lost the war because we lost due to not having the effective skill to defeat North Vietnam.

    American's goal changes; we cannot win, though we hope to get out without greater causalities. The casualty rates were over 3,000. United States loses self-confidence because of losing the war to a less equipped enemy. They also lost allied nations and American citizens. President Lyndon did not run for reelection because he was afraid of others opinion for his decisions.

    Vietnam conflicts expands to Cambodia and Laos
    Throughout the 1950's and 60's, France and America worked together in Vietnam. France then suddenly dropped out leaving us to clean up their mess. There was a trail called the Ho Chi Minh Trail that needed to be destroyed. This trail helped out Vietcong- people who live in South Vietnam, but were communist. We wanted to attack the trail but we couldn't because it was located in Combodia and Laos. In order to demolish the trail, we eventually expanded the war and invaded both nations.

    Throughout the years, China and America were not the closets in the world due to the complication in 1949. China and America were now trying to get along without knowing China saw a person left behind on the bus, American. China, who was well on their way to the same location decided to take on the passenger whom they did not know was American. This places things on ice and helped on another realize that they might have a better ally system if they had two huge pauses involved.

    During the year of 1979 Iran was “taken over” by America. The reasoning why America needed to do this was because of the oil access in Iran. Leading Iran citizens to take US Hostages to debate, only eventually letting them go latter on in time. While in Afghanistan the Mujahadeen were a group of "democracy" people who we needed to help due to our policy. We provided training and weapons for war. Eventually defeating the communist in their country, then turned on us with the 9/11 attack.

    In 1980 the year of the Winter Olympics with the still desiding Soviets to see if they are intersted in wanting to join the Olympics in America. They had decided to go thankfully for the United States who had spent millions of dollars on it. In the past 20 years before the winter Olymipcs we have never been in the lead nor won against the soviets, until the glorious day of the second to last game of the Olympics in hockey America defeated the soviets 3 to 2 on Feburary 9th 1980.
