    The beginning of the Vietnam war was to aid South Vietnamese civilizans and soldiers in a battle against communism. Many American opposed this war greatly because we had nothing to do with Vietnam. The war was eighteen years long, the longest war to this date.

    Elvis Presley debuts his dance of "Hound Dog" that he learned from Forrest. The show doesnt like the dance and never has Elvis back. This dance eventually took off and became very popular in American culture.

    President Kennedy was in Texas at the time of his assassination. He was in the city of Dallas at the time, riding in a convetibal vehical with his wife, Gov. of texas, and his wife as well. Lee Harvey Oswald is said to have commited the crime.

    Happened in Los Angeles, California, during the campaign for U.S. Presidential election. After winning the California and South Dakota primary elections, Kennedy was shot as he walked through the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel and died in the Good Samaritan Hospital twenty-six hours later.

Abbie Hoffman was a political and social activist who helped create the Youth International Party. The "Yippies" were a group of free speech activists composed of mostly young teens who rebelled against society.

    On July 20th, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made there way to the moon on Apollo 11, This was the golden trophy for Americans in the Space Race with the soviets. Together the two astronaut collected data and rocks samples to bring back to earth. This was a feat that became part of American History.

    The American table-tennis team was invited to Commuist China for a week long tournament. This was a sign of mutualism between the two coutnries. The event was publicized everywhere as relations opened up and there was hope for peace.

    The Dick Cavett show was a great American entertasinment program in which famous people at the time would be invited on the set. Dick would ask them questions written by audience members about current event topics. John Lennon was aired during the vietnam war expressing his feelings toward peace.

    The Watergate break-in's were a direct result of the Watergate Scandal itself. President Nixon had planned to win his re-election in a very unfair way. The break in to the hotel/offices was to retrieve documents from his imposing party and to tap into their conversations. The robbers were caughts and Nixon was exposed.

    When Reagan left an event he spoke at in Washington, D.C., President Reagan and three others were shot and wounded by John Hinckley, Jr. Reagan suffered a punctured lung and heavy internal bleeding, but good medical attention allowed him to heal quickly. This assassination attempt left John Hinckley in a mental facility and not in jail.

    Apple was the newest in tech companies at the time. Knowing its potential, smart investor had bought a piece or "share" of the company hoping to strike it rich...they did. Apple is now a multi bilion dollar company that introduced the first home computer systems into everybodys homes.
